On the same day that we hosted our 33rd digital journalism conference Newsrewired in May 2024, the UK called a General Election on 4 July 2024. It gave the day a new dimension, as we looked at how news organisations were getting ready, considering fact-checking in the age of AI, appealing to Gen Z and sustaining public interest news.

In this week's podcast, we look back at the day's key takeaways as there are always other elections around the corner. Next year, there are big elections in Germany, Ireland and Australia, to name a few. The UK has local council elections next year as well.

But if you want more practical advice, why not come along to our Newsrewired conference next week on 27 November, where we will explore many pressing topics facing the news industry on the day. Grab your ticket today - but be quick as there are limited spaces left.

Book a place on our first-ever study tour the day before, on 27 November, and save yourself £50.
